HDR History

Please join us for a journey through the history of our club, presented by Steve Wilcox.

Steve is President of Resultants for Business, Inc. ("RFB"), a business advisory firm serving entrepreneurial companies in growth strategies and value building. Building teams of great people that positively change lives is RFB’s mission. Based on a team model, C-Suite experienced facilitators team together with owners and their leadership teams to implement the framework, discipline, and tools proven to grow and make companies great.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, Steve started a business career that included starting up, building, leading-growing teams, and successfully transitioning to the next entrepreneurial opportunity six times. Steve and his wife Terri have “co-preneured” all of these companies together. Steve has served the community in a variety of roles, including 45+ years in Rotary International, over 50 years in Scouting America volunteer leadership, the UW-River Falls Foundation Board, Junior Achievement Board, St. Croix Valley Foundation Board, Operation HELP Board/The Alliance Center, and the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and St. Croix EDC.
For 50+ years Steve and Terri have resided on the half block in Hudson, WI raising two grown children, Chris and Kiira.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & OPPORTUNITIES

Signature Project Working Group
Our Club Visioning Process identified the Signature Project as a top priority, and we have committed significant time & money to it. We are uniquely positioned in the Hudson Area as a club with the right people, connections, and resources to tangibly improve our community through this effort.

The Signature Project Committee (formerly known as the Community Surveys Group) is guided by Rotary values and is seeking projects that increase Rotary's visibility in the community while providing meaningful opportunities for member involvement. In addition, project ideas are evaluated using the following criteria, based on a review of over 30 community surveys and assessments:
  • Positively impact mental health
  • Strengthen community connections
  • Benefit multiple generations
The committee has reviewed more than 30 submitted ideas and narrowed the list to eight finalists. The next meeting will be held on September 16 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the Marie Blakeman Center at CCH (1320 Wisconsin Street). All members are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

The goal of the meeting is to gather additional information, review the finalist ideas, and narrow the list to three or fewer potential projects.

Have some FUN with a new experience
Welcome to our newest Youth Exchange Student—Ian from Belgium!
Our Club and Ian's first host family recently greeted Ian at the airport as he begins his year-long adventure. Big things are in store for Ian, and we cannot wait to learn more about him!

Two exchange-term opportunities remain: the 2nd term (post-Thanksgiving to spring break) or the 3rd term (spring break to the end of the school year).

If you or someone you know would be interested in serving as a host family for Ian, please connect with Roy Sjoberg.

CNC Pollinator Garden Watering
As we continue the summer and head into fall, we need to continue to water the pollinator gardens at CNC three times each week. Watering can be done by one Rotarian each time.
