Service above self reminder

Our Service Above Self project is well underway! Below are details and in the following weeks, I'll post more scores.

  • If you have a project that could use the hands of many/beyond your team - please create a Google doc to share with all - send to Tessa Boury and a link will be placed in our Bulletin; if it's short notice - send to Ruth Petermann for quick distribution to all members!
  • Rotarian Razzle Dazzles identified a few projects we can work on as a club and created a spreadsheet for them.  Activities range from writing cards to Pres Homes residents to cleaning up areas around the city.  You can find that spreadsheet here (you may have to request permission to use it or simply email Tessa and I can add you to the form)

  • Team Standings:
Team 5    65 pts
Harris' Hudson Heroes   37 pts
Worker Bee's    21 pts
Rotarian Razzle Dazzles     15 pts
Trailblazers are on the board!

  • Remember, please send points earned to your team captain with quick explanation of the service you performed, and any pics you posted on social media; team captains forward this info to suzykorum@kw.com; we want to share the work happening out there each week!

  • Quick review of guidelines:  The goal is to encourage two or more members of Rotary to work together on a project; family member and friends are welcome as long as there are two HDR team members there as well; one point per volunteer hour worked; bonus point for one photo posted on social media with HDR members in the photo; one point if HDR t-shirt is worn; ten points if an entire team participates in the service project

You do not need a lot of experience and entire families are welcome to come and volunteer. 6-10 volunteers are needed weekly. Drone Videos Wanted
John Ramstad is working on a project for Momentum West, the regional economic development group for 10 counties in Western Wisconsin. As such, John has been contracted to take drone video of a variety of things for a series of videos they're producing. He'd like to take drone video of "lifestyle" recreational activities such as canoeing, kayaking, biking, hiking, fishing, and so on.

Would any Rotarians be willing to work with John so so he can shoot some drone video while they fish, hike, kayak... You will receive get copies of the video but no financial compensation. If you'd like to help, please reach out to John at john.ramstad@yahoo.com.

Christian Community Homes
CCH is seeking donations of material to make cloth isolation gowns. They hope to receive 100 donations of four continuous yards of cotton material. Please contact Debi Mager if you are able to help! debi.mager@cchhudson.org
or 715.386.4536

CASA of Western Wisconsin
The new CASA of Western Wisconsin – St. Croix County - is looking for potential board members to serve on the steering committee and/or 501(c) (3) board. Eventually, we will need CASA volunteers also. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates and they are trained volunteers appointed by a judge to advocate for a child who is in the child welfare system. In 2019, more than 7,000 Wisconsin children were eligible for a CASA. Only 1,000 children were served because 60 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties do not have a CASA program. Thanks to St. Croix County, that is now down to 59. For further information please contact Tim Heckmann at timothy.heckmann@wicourts.gov.

New Meeting
location

New Live Meeting Location
We are very excited to be moving indoors for the live portion of our meetings beginning Wednesday, September 30th.

Because we are graciously being allowed to use the space in the RCU Building at Camp St. Croix, we want to be good guests and respect the rules put in place by the YMCA of the Twin Cities in all of their facilities.
  • Due to mandates from Minnesota and Wisconsin, masks are required when in the building.
  • An adequate distance of at least 6 ft between each person is required
  • Before entering the building, you will be asked a series of 4 questions.
    • Have you or anyone in your house traveled to another country in the past 14 days?
    • Within the last 14 days, has someone in your household tested positive for COVID-19?
    • Are you currently experiencing any symptoms of illness?
    • Do you have any concerns agreeing to follow the safety protocols around physical distancing?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, you should not attend in person and consider attending virtually.

  • If you test positive within two weeks of attending a meeting, we ask that you contact us. The Y is required to report confirmed cases to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Again, since we are being allowed to use the RCU Building at Camp St. Croix, I ask for your help in being respectful of their requirements.
