In today’s increasingly polarized climate, it can feel harder than ever to have meaningful conversations with people who see the world differently. Too often, we assume the worst about others’ beliefs instead of understanding the values and experiences that shape them.

But what if we could approach those conversations differently?

On Tuesday, April 14, the St. Croix Valley community is invited to take part in a free, non-partisan workshop designed to help participants build practical skills for navigating disagreement with more understanding and respect.

Skills for Disagreeing Better is an interactive experience focused on strengthening how we listen, share, and connect across differences. Rather than avoiding difficult conversations, this workshop offers tools to engage in them more productively—whether in our communities, workplaces, or everyday lives.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Better understand the values and concerns of people with different political perspectives
  • Listen in ways that help others feel genuinely heard
  • Share their own viewpoints in a way that invites dialogue rather than division
  • Recognize both where we differ—and where we share common ground

The workshop is hosted by St. Croix Valley Braver Angels in partnership with Hudson Daybreak Rotary, Rotary Club of Hudson, the Golden Rule Initiative, and the Hudson YMCA. Together, these organizations are working to strengthen community connection through more thoughtful, constructive conversations.
